| BEST TIMES: | Primarily our Canadian hunts focus on the Elk. The Elk can be an Elk hunt or with other hunts such as Whitetail, or Mule Deer (we only have a few), or Geese and Ducks, and Northern Coyote. We also have outstanding Bison.. We can COMBO whatever you Wish! The Best Time for Elk is September thru December. We have the greatest number of big bulls known to man. The herd has been nurtured for over 30 years. The best and biggest herd Bull was always used as the main sire and propagated into the finest Elk herd in the world. Almost every other herd in the world has either started from this herd or was built from this herds brood stock. . Our Bulls are Old and massive, heavy mained, spectacular animals. I urge you to COMBO your hunt, the best for Elk and Deer is November with the last half of October and the first half of December is excellent as well. For Elk and Geese, with some Ducks too, is Mid-September to Mid-October check to see when the Sask. Waterfowl Season opens and closes. The Elk, Bison, or Fallow Deer, hunt is great any time from September thru January. However, January can be quite cold. |
| MEET: | We have a special deal with a car rental source in Saskatoon, that rents slightly used trucks and vans for about half of the big rental car places prices. We keep our prices low ans so you must get to the lodge and return. Our Lodges are about 100 to 120 miles from the Saskatoon Airport on excellent paved roads. |
| HUNTING METHODS: |
Elk. Hunting can be as tough as you wish either with Bow, Muzzle Loader or Rifle. Most hunters choose Bugeling or Stands pr spot and stalk huntingwalking. Many choose to look some bulls over the first day or half-day and then shoot later. Also, available for those who are not able to walk well, (the terrain is rolling hills, with deep brush pockets not mountainous) here is stand hunting as well as Suburban riding which is production as well. Our ranches are about 4 square miles of heavy timber and it is as close as you can get to free range hunting. Deer both Whitetail and Mule Deer are hunted on Indian Reservations, guided by Native Indians with Reserve Hunting Permits. As of last year , we had three reservations to choose, all with feeding programs and enclosed stands. A butane stove is available for cold days. The Waterfowl is hunted on private lands as well as the possibilities of hunting on Indian Reserves. Bring your own Waterfowl Calls, Dogs, and Camo, White as well as Hunter Orange is needed for the Waterfowl hunts. |
| HOUSING: | We have several Elk Ranchs that we hunt. The lodging ranges from Log Lodges and picturesque Motels to a wonderful Canadian Lodge which is all Logs and Pine paneling. All meals are prepared by local Chefs and the home cooking is perhaps some of the best in Canada, well the USA as well! Many meals have fresh hot breads and wonderful native dishes. All meals are served at the Main Lodge. |
| GUNS: | We urge all of our hunters to bring your own weapons. There is a form which you can get on the internet or by fax, or call the Canadian Firearms office and get one Emailed or faxed to you.that you can fill out: Having this done in advance will save some 15 to 20 minutes when entering Canada at customs. The cost is $30 Canadian or about $30 US funds. Having this done in advance makes the Canadian Customs "happy" and speeds your entry. However, you can just arrive with your weapons, declare them to customs; fill out the forms inside Canadian Customs, pay your fee $30 Canadian, they take credit cards as well. They do not like to take USA cash so try to have Visa, or Master Card or Canadian Money, so it speeds your entry |
| TROPHY PREPARATION: | There are several routes you may choose for handling your Trophy's Elk, or Deer. The Ranch will field prep you Trophy. This means the Ranch will, clean, and cape (skin the cape or head to the antlers) for you. The Ranch will also deliver your Antlers & Cape, and hide if you desire to taxidermist in Canada. The Ranch will deliver your meat to the local butcher plant who will cut, de-bone, make sausage, pan sausage, hamburger, summer sausage for you at your cost, any way you want it, expect about 200 to 250 pounds of meat per Elk to be shipped to you. The plant makes excellent sausages and these are great for parties or meals. The ranch will deliver the goods to taxidermist or butcher for you, but from that point on it is at your cost and your direction. Expect about $800 US money on Elk mount (head) then plus shipping and $300 to $400 on meat processing per Elk and shipping cost. You can take your Elk Antlers with you if you drive, as well as your cape and meat, we will assist you at the Ranch to have proper documents for transporting your animal. Northwest Airlines has been very helpful in letting our hunters ship their elk antlers after they are tipped woth garden hose and a 2X4 is tapped in the middle, then checked as excess baggage and tagged without crating. this may cost you $200 more but you will have your antlers appear in oversize baggage at your destination. You will save crating, brokerage, and freight, and have the ability to watch your local taxidermist mount your head in your local area a great savings to you. If you wish to give your meat or hide away to needy people the Ranch will handle that for you at no charge. We suggest if you elect to ship your mounted head home that you have the taxidermist crate and ship them for you at your cost and risks. Deer Antlers as of last year were accepted by some Airlines some not! But antler must be packed well in a proper box; prefer plastic boxes or wood, they must have proper legal tags, Indian or others, the antlers had to have cut rubber hose taped on each major point and boxed correctly, also you should leave your box open so Canadian and US Custom officials can see tags and permits before you depart Canada. The cape should be rolled up (not bloody) and not wet so it might not harm other folks, fine luggage, must be bagged in water tight bags, and boxed to travel properly. Remember that cape is just like a steak and subject to spoil if not refrigerated properly. |
| LIABILITY: | When you book and sign on hunting with us, you acknowledge that hunting is a dangerous sport and agree to hunt at your own risk. The Ranch, guides, booking agents are not liable in form or fashion for any accidents regardless who causes it. |
| COSTS: | Elk Hunts – The "Turn Key" cost of the basic Elk hunt usually 4days and 3 nights – which guarantees you a Bull of Score 300 to 350s Gross Score in inches SCI Score gross, which both you and your guide agree on before you shoot starts at $4495 US funds. We have a seperate area where we believe bulls to be up to perhaps 390's, or less and many are 6X6 or better i.e. 6X7, maybe larger, and the hunter will get their chance at whatever there is (there is no way we or anyone can tell exactly what they score when they are live and moving), we can estimate close and usually try to stay on the low side, however to be sure he or she does not shoot a 5X5 or something too small the hunter and the guide should look the elk over and then decide if it is to the hunters liking and then the hunter can shoot or look for better. The Bulls that score over 400 should be in another part of the ranch or perhaps some miles away, and if some Hunter wants one of those he or she and the guide will go look, and if they find one of interest the guide will tell the hunter the price and the hunter may take it or not. In addition, we may have some trophy Bison $2500-$4500 and we will advise the price before the shooting. It is possible that we may have some available trophy deer, which start at $4495, and up but the $4495 ones are in the range 140-159 range. We sometimes have larger deer and these will be priced individually, all of this is in a high fenced area. This, which is all inclusive from the Airport for two or more hunters, all licenses, permits, lodging, meals, guides (except tips), transportation on Ranch, field prep of Trophy and meat and meat delivery to Butcher and Taxidermist (mutual consent) – near the lodge in Canada – all inclusive; larger Bulls are more. It takes $1,000 booking fee per animal to book your dates, and reserve your tags, and remainder usually the remainder is due 60 days prior to your arrival. If necessary, you may be able to postpone your trip or lengthen your stay when space is available at extra costs. However, cash refunds are not possible, however we may elect to let you sell your hunt to another hunter, or possibly postpone your hunt to the next season. You may transfer your deposit with mutual consent of Ranch until 30 days prior to hunt. COMBO Elk and Hi-Fenced Deer Hunts are very limited and are $8,495. The 6X6 or better Elk, and the deer 140-159 is guaranteed too, and a bear maybe possible to hunt as well for additional fees. Call Now if interested in the COMBO DEER AND ELK. Guaranteed both. |
