Combination Dove and Quail Hunt with
Waterfowl Possibilities
Fact Sheet

BEST TIME: Desert Scaled Quail: Late October and November and February. Doves: Better in October and November. Waterfowl: Best in February, however, waterfowl are very dependent on water in the area and cold weather to our North. There is a good chance to Always get Quail, especially October – November then February. We do not hunt Birds during December and the first half of January because we are tied up Deer Hunting. The Combo is "The Best Bang for Your Buck!" you can hunt the Triple Combo Quail, Doves, and Waterfowl all in one day! It is unusual to have all Three Species offer perfect abundant shooting in the same day. However, if you make an "A" on Quail, Grade "B" on Doves and "C" on Waterfowl, What A Day!!! Come to hunt Quail, accept the others as a Bonus!! We seldom come back empty handed.
MEET: We meet at Laredo International Airport or La Posada Hotel on your beginning date. Most of the Triple Combo Hunts are Friday Noon to Sunday Noon or Sunday Noon to Tuesday Noon. However, for extra fees ($300), you can add extra days and have a Thursday – Sunday or Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday-Sunday or Sunday-Thursday Whatever your Heart Desires!
HUNTING METHODS:

Usually the First Afternoon we either hunt Quail or Doves (your choice) or hunt a couple of hours for Quail then stop and shoot Doves. Our Quail hunting is either walking the Roads or Riding the Roads either in hunting trucks or horse drawn wagon. The horse drawn wagons are extra charge not included in our usual packages. The Desert Scaled Quail is a clever bird, probably the toughest upland bird you may even encounter. These Quail will not "hold" for pointing dogs or anything else. At the first sign of danger, they "Take Off" running, low-flying as fast as they can to hide in pre-destined cactus houses. Our hunters try to circle them, rush them, sneak up on them, using each hunters best skill to get a shot at these clever tough birds. Doves are hunted near ponds or at waters edge or next to cut-over brush lines. Of course, the waterfowl is hunted at lakes edge from blinds with decoys, please bring your duck calls and retrieving dogs. No Problem Bringing Dogs! An excellent days hunt is 20 Doves, 15 Quail, and 5 to 10 Ducks or Geese combined! We have 2 species of Doves, 15 species of Ducks, 2 species of Quail, and 2 species of Geese. In some years, several species can be from scarce to very scarce depending on the weather. Please bring a good pair of Brush chaps, the cactus thorns will go through all brush pants, I have seen so bring good chaps. Do Not bring waiders as all our hunting is at lakes edge. Do Not bring big ice chests – 40 bird take home is the Ranch Policy and fit best in soft sided, fold up ice cooler!

HOUSING: We hunt two primary Ranches; each has a central dining room, satellite TV, rooms that can accommodate two, three, and four hunters. All baths are tiled. In warm weather, we hunt the Ranch which is fully Air Conditioned and has a small swimming pool. Both are Rustic Mexican! See Photos. The food is well prepared and most of the ingredients are purchased in the USA. We serve 1st Choice Grade Steaks, thick. And one evening is wild game prepared several ways. We cook and eat what we hunt. Most of our cooking is mesquite grilled outside! The Lodges are Mexican flavor Rustic style lodges. All have electricity, one is on a private big generator, and we have emergency large back up generators. Lodges will sleep up to 20 guests, several rooms sleep 4, while others sleep 2 or 3. - Non-hunting guests are invited when we have room, but take the same bed as other hunters (our usual charge is $500.)
GUNS: We have twenty Benelis Semi-Auto shotguns (mostly 12 gauge) at the Lodge We rent for $50 per weekend or full hunt (4 or 3 days) That’s $50 total to help with usual wear and tear. If you abuse the weapon or damage any gun, you are liable for the repair. We also have several Berettas and over and under Citori look alike and they also cost $50 per total hunt (4 or 3 days.) $50 total for their use. We have 870 Remington pump shotguns mostly 12 gauge, that you may use free of charge. If you must bring your own guns be ready to pay $300 - $400 per gun permit for the military and wait 2 to 5 hours for border inspections. The cost was $300 last year. We do not recommend this. Shells are sold for what they cost us. This year it appears to be $12/box.- High but worth it, Do Not bring any weapons, shotguns, shells, rifles, or pistols, knives with blades more than 6 inches long, or any shells, or ammo into Mexico.
